Boosh DVD is out! Has been for a couple days, actually, but there's been a surprising lack of news about it. But here is an entertaining ad/trailer/tiny version of the release party they hosted: http://www.chortle.co.uk/?id_news=9977

I am so sad that even if they do tour the US someday, something like this will basically never happen here. Alas.

Happy birthday, King Danny! :D He got to spend his birthday hanging out with the Boosh. That is almost too much awesome in in one room to contemplate.

Not awesome? My lame six-hour shift today was a lie. Either it was read to me wrong, or it changed. I have a grand total of zero hours this week, in fact. A glance at the other departments' schedules showed the same thing happening to most of the rest of the part-timers as well, with many working 5-10 hr weeks, or nothing at all. Why hire a bunch of people if you're not going to use them? :/

I didn't want to lump these two fine announcements in with my last post, so apologies for the spam. But:

1) As of today, The IT Crowd has been officially green-lighted for a fourth season! Hooray! I actually checked wikipedia earlier today to see if there was any news yet, and there wasn't, so this is indeed brand new information.

2) Bunny and the Bull comes out this month! Here is a clip. I am so excited. Julian Barrat, Noel Fielding, Richard Ayoade, and Simon Farnaby all in one film? Directed by Boosh and Darkplace director Paul King? Yeah. This is a good thing.

So yesterday I went over to Curtis' place (he's Wayne's other apprentice) and what was supposed to be a quick visit turned into us standing around for two hours talking about bird stuff. Man, when you get excitable bird people together, things get very bird-nerdy very fast, haha. Anyway, we had a good time sharing kestrel equipment ideas and experiments, and had much lulz swinging Wayne's falcon lure around, and omg his dogs are adorable, especially the puppy. August 22nd needs to get here sooner!

Other important discoveries of the past few days:

-RPing Church is seriously entertaining
-Mandy is awesome with Tex
-Aphelion is drawing ever closer to completion (though still a ways off because we have so much to write!)

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THERE IS A NEW ZOMBIE MOVIE COMING OUT NEXT YEAR. STARRING NOEL FIELDING AS THE ZOMBIE KING. HOW IS THIS NOT THE BEST THING EVER?

I mean, seriously. Seriously. I can't wait.

The usual edit: Did I mention how much I love these two?

Oh RvB. Such a tease. I swear, it's worse than, I dunno, Lost. Okay, so I never actually watched Lost. But just based on what I've heard, you have this show where every 45-minute episode ends at a crazy cliffhanger... or you have a show with 5-minute episodes that does exactly the same thing. AAGH. FLAIL. Some of you out there need to catch up so we can flail together before I start giving in and spazzing about OMG HUEG SPOILARZ GO HERE.

So anyway, yeah, I disappeared even more than usual for a couple days last week as Aaron (banding partner) and I went on an epic three-day camping trip to Malheur/Steens/high desert. Freaking awesome. I have pictures but I haven't really gone through and made them nice for posting yet. I'll do that eventually.

In falconry news, Curtis is going to fly a kestrel this season! I'll miss Phoenix (and I'm sure he will too, woe) but there just aren't enough rabbits up here for her. I think she's moving to Corvallis. So Curtis and Wayne and I will go on a super kestrel trapping adventure sometime this August~ And it will be awesome.

Tomorrow we head back to the site where we caught that hawk last week. I hope we get it again. And then after that we are ditching to Newport to go see Harry Potter. Bwahaha.

Ten days until the Boosh hit America. Sob.

Edit: I always think of things to add after I post, fff. Okay, so I was looking through my flickr posts, and while most of my photos have the expected low number of views, I think some insect fanatics have been spam-clicking some of the pics or something, haha. My shots of the termite mounds and the green scarab beetles have over 100 views each, and my most-viewed photo is the giant centipede with 272 views. wtf, random people. wtf.

Your result for Roleplayer Test! ...
The Biographer

Plotful, Character-Oriented, Platonic
Like the Portraitist, the development of your character is the most important thing to you when you roleplay. However, you like your development and relationships to have some kind of overarching plot: you're not the type to enjoy a dressing room or any kind of roleplay where your character can't grow in at least a semi-structured manner. You enjoy exploring your character's psyche, but simple exploration isn't enough: you like to discover and then implement and use, and therefore continuity (which gives you "why"s and "how"s) is very important to you. You struggle when your character has no solid base in which to put down its roots, such as in games where there isn't enough structure or ones where the plot is continually changing.

In other news, on Sunday, in addition to the usual thrushes and warblers and wrens, we caught a Coopers Hawk. This bird has been hanging out at Beaver Ridge for the past several weeks, molting from its juvenile feathers into its adult plumage, and finally it wound up in one of our nets. Which, I have to say, was freaking awesome. Coming up the hill and seeing a hawk flailing around in a net is such an incredible surprise.

Photos ahoy )

Ten RP icons completed for Church already. I am a sad individual.

I don't really feel like participating in Boosh fandom right now so I'm not going to crosspost these, but... I made icons and I'll just... put them here. Yeah.

Yes, Lisa, I made an icon of the weird cat thing just for you.

Oh how I wish there was a good emoticon for the facepalm. I would use it right now. Actually, I would use it just about any time an actor gets involved in their own fandom, but especially when said actor goes and reads explicit slash fanfiction involving his character and his co-star's character, then talks about it multiple times while claiming he hadn't realized what he was getting himself into. Lawl.

So anyway, a facepalm emoticon. I want one.

-)\ Okay that's pretty crap but it's the best I can come up with on short notice.

Current ratio of icons with Noel Fielding's face to icons without: very nearly 1:1. Three icon slots empty, to be filled with Noel Fielding's face once I get my computer downstairs to connect to the internet.

Oh dear me.

Speaking of Noel Fielding's face, I was making up nametags at work for some IT conference in Houston, and one of the guys attending was Gregg something of Oceaneering International. I smiled. Yeah, I don't think I'll ever take the name Gregg seriously again.

And then frowned when I made up a nametag for some official at Halliburton. I really wanted to mess that one up intentionally. But I didn't.

Watching Boosh DVD extras has been informative, by the way. Dar, when dressing up as the Moon, definitely try to keep the shaving cream from actually touching your skin. Apparently, having shaving cream on your face for hours will burn it pretty badly. Eeek.

Also, today was my last day at my temp job, probably ever. You have no idea how happy that makes me.
