Awh, Burnie liked my art. I feel all happy now.
In other news, yes, everyone by now has heard about our latest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. I, like many others, was quite confused by this initially, until I read more into what the prize is about and why the committee believed Obama deserved it. For those who are still unsure, go here and here. There. Now I don't have to spam everyone who's all "wtf??", you can go read for yourselves. ;D Basically, yes, it does seem a little early perhaps, but I think it's deserved, and as I said to Ayries,
"Now that he's a Nobel laureate, he's got the entire rest of his term to live up to it. Not that it prevents him from, say, sending more troops to Afghanistan, but surely the fact that the international community have pinned this on him means he'll be thinking about it every time he has a major decision to make."
And if you need more, go read for yourself at wikipedia and, when the site's done being hammered, the Nobel website itself.
Okay now on to other things. HEY PDX CREW! That mosque right next door? Had an open-house Ramadan feast with delicious things like chicken korma and makhani chicken and rice pudding and all that... on September 5th. WE MISSED IT ARGH. Let's watch that place more closely and see if another holiday with delicious food comes up so we can have delicious feastings and learn more about another culture.
Also, I have located the correct corn maze field (ie - not the one we did last year but the one I remember being epic from previous years and dear god does it look like a tough one this fall). Admission is $7. They also have a haunted maze - smaller and less challenging, but, you know, haunted, and only open after dark. That one's $10. I personally prefer the more difficult but daylight-only maze, but either would be cool.
And now finally, a meme from
hikaritoyamii.
My answers can be found here.
ETA: AGH WTF WEATHER?? Hey Dar, bring your plants indoors this weekend if you can. Temperatures are supposed to drop down into the 20s overnight this weekend.

Date: 2009-10-10 08:32 (UTC)...OOH! Yes, I should! I'm always up for an Obama speech! :DD I'll get right on that, after I watch Thursday's Daily Show. ...Now, I'm looking forward to Monday's show, as well as Colbert Report. Honestly, how am I supposed to know how to process important world events unless Stewart and Colbert tell me?

Date: 2009-10-10 08:34 (UTC)Haha, yeah, it's a shame the Nobel was awarded on a Friday! Stewart and Colbert won't get to talk about it until Monday! Clearly this is all part of the clever plot by politicians to prevent news like this from coming out at a useful time for the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

Date: 2009-10-10 08:45 (UTC)Seriously! Every time something important happens, it's a Friday. They totally do it on purpose.
