Hey everyone, I'm back from Tinian (I know, I know, you didn't even know I was gone). Today, I bring you lots of sketches, done over the past three years but mostly weighted toward things done more recently. This is by no means the entire contents of my sketchbook, obviously, but just a few highlights I thought people might be interested in seeing. As will not surprise you, the majority of my sketchbook, academic exercises aside, consists of drawings of birds and various bits of fanart. Shocking, I know.

... I wish I could just leave that title there and leave the body of this post blank because I think it's a very silly statement to just make with no explanation (and an excellent band name, as well) but I think instead I'll say this:

I realized today that both of my main RP characters are of the Fucked-up Jesus type. Which is like a more specific version of TVTropes' "Messianic Archetype" I suppose. Now, I know Burnie has said he didn't intend the Christian symbolism that sort of wrote itself into Church's story, holy trinity and all. I suspect the writers of Sonic 06 deliberately played up Shadow's Fucked-up Jesus role by crucifying him, however. That one's kind of blatant. Anyway, unless someone really wants me to go in-depth and elaborate here, I'll just leave you with that. Because when I realized I played two Fucked-up Jesuses today, I had a bit of a laugh.

(And yes, I know at one point I was going to write up a post on the Taoist and Christian symbology that surrounds Shadow's games/roles in games, which yes, is just as ridiculously pretentious, not to mention way nerdy overboard, as it sounds, which is largely why I didn't actually write it.)

... If I thought I could play Ten, I would, just to have three Fucked-up Jesus characters.

Edit: Also, Jesus was a Jew! +1 points to Church being the Jewish one. ;D

Point Lookout is awesome. It would be more awesome if it didn't crash every ten minutes, but you know, that's Fallout 3 DLC for you. There's these weird swamp gas bubble things which are pretty cool, but going near them just about breaks my computer. Alas.

And then I found the RvB Caramelldansen and was amused for a good while. No dancing Wash, alas. And this in turn led me to Luke McKay's random sketches page. McKay is the staff cartoonist at RoosterTeeth, so I guess that makes his depictions of the characters at least semi-official, and I was pleased to see that I had pictured many of the RvB crew similarly.

I've begun doing some actual solid work on Aphelion, so hopefully it won't be too much longer before we have the comms in some sort of visitable stage, at which point we will open reservations. Exciting! Although I'm a little concerned that players I don't already know will think of me as the scary mod. I mean, look at the two characters I'm going to play there. Sheesh. Maybe someday I'll play someone nice again. XD;

A story by shinyget, who can't sleep.

Once upon a time, there was a pony. And a black hedgehog. The hedgehog loved pink ponies but his pony friend was white. So he found a little loli, a little blonde loli, and she was like "I got some glitter pink paint~!" and he was like "omgomgomgomg." The two danced around the pony, splattering pink as they went. Then the dark evil king, BLACK DOOOOOM, showed up, and ooooomed all over the place. The little pony had its pink scared right off of it and it ran off into the wilderness of space.

This angered the black hedgehog. He was like, "BITCH, WAT U TALKIN' BOUT?" And then the loli gasped and went, "OH NOOOOO~!" just like that.

Black Doom lashed out a scaly tentacle at her and knocked her to the the ground. The hedgehog donned his magical armor and grabbed his javelin. His mighty spear impaled the evil king in his oral orifice.

The loli jumped with joy. "YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY~!"

Shadow blasted toward his princess and they rode happily ever after on galactic space ponies.

THE END.

Also, the ponies were pink.

Director's commentary: "Hedgehog" was almost "Echidna" at the beginning, but the Master Emerald wouldn't make as good a princess.

As usual, I find these far more entertaining to fill out IC than for myself. So. Uh. The following questions will be answered by Econtra!Shadow.

Well, the list of SOA winners for the Black Knight contest is officially up, so I guess that means there's pretty much no chance they'll have to axe someone and stick me in there instead, heh. Anyway, at long last, it is now guaranteed to be safe for me to post my art and show you it. :o

Sooo.... I've been thinking of dropping Maria from Econtra.

I'm just having a hard time playing her for whatever reason, so all she ends up doing is being used when she's most convenient, instead of being a character in her own right, and it isn't really fair to her. That, and her very presence prevents Shadow from interacting with others because he just doesn't want to talk to anyone else. I feel limited, too, in that if anything ever happens, he just goes straight to her for comfort or whatever, and very little of that gets written out. Not because I don't want to, but because I feel like I shouldn't. Like, if I want to do that, I might as well just write fic.

But as we know, dropping her would be a double-edged sword of DRAMU because, well, we all know how well Shadow will handle her disappearance. And I don't want to drop her for the purpose of giving him something to angst about, but it's not something that can be avoided if I let her go.

So....... thoughts?

Uhhh, just read it. It's PG-13 at the very worst. Also, Shadow/Rouge, not something scarring like the last one. I wrote this quite a while ago for Mandy, btw, and if anyone has prompts they'd like to see done, I might give them a shot if the characters are ones I can write. :D;
